This workshop will present ideas and techniques for repairing that favorite costume, decorating a costume that just needs more bling and everything in between. Techniques will be demonstrated on samples and on costumes. Got a plain costume needing a bit of bling? Want a hip scarf that is unique to you? LOVE a new-to-you costume and it is ALMOST performance-ready, but you don’t know what? OR…oops that zipper just isn’t working? All of these require hand sewing skills and You Can Do It!

Instructor Experience:
I started hand sewing at age 3, started my journey with sewing machines at 10, and there will always be a ka-billion projects to be done.

You must be a Guild member to register. Annual dues are $28.

What to bring:
Attendees should bring; hand sewing needles, thimble, (please bring one that fits you and never have fingertip pain again), pins (and/or quilting clips that work with thick projects), sharp scissors, thread that works for your project.
If you have a zipper that needs replacing, bring the garment and a new zipper. Have a costume that needs bling? Bring it and some bling. Please do not bring anything with glitter.
Does the bling include seed beads, paillettes and/or sequins? You will need needles called ‘sharps’.
A notebook and writing tools are also helpful.

What to wear: Something comfortable.
When to arrive: 15 minutes before class begins. If there is bad weather: Check the Guild Facebook page for updates if the weather is a factor. When you arrive, we will ask you to complete a photo and liability release.
